When retailers overcharge you, after you think its the best deal in town (that's what they say), you feel lied to, cheated etc. Here's an example:
Sony Handycam HDR-SR10 Camcorder - 2.36 MP - 15 x optical zoom
But what exactly should be a fair price? Did you know that even after you do an online comparison, there is still a 40% premium to the manufacturer's price? But unsuspecting customers will pay significantly beyond a fair price because they just don't know how to get the best deals.
Over 50% of AUTHORIZED SONY DEALERS, are out there cheating you if you don't do your homework.
Here is data clipped out as of 31 January 2009:
Look at PC Richard & Son: Walk-ins, they will sell you the product at $799. Online, they will sell you at $599. In reality, the product is still marked up beyond other authorized dealers by $100 USD!!!
Buyer -beware is right.
Even the lowest online pricing is still making 40% above manufacturers (this means at 0% markup the price should be $299). Everyone needs to eat, pay rent etc. (so I agree with the 40% charge), but overcharging the customer and milking them for every dime & nickel is shameful. And even for the ones that say they will match a lower price, who pays for the lost time, frustration and fuel prices? In this economy or in better times, companies should be fair and should not be allowed to raise prices beyond a certain point.
With Hans in the industry, he can unlock the pricing secrets in google, msn, yahoo and know what everyone's offering and more. Let the consumers decide if they really want to pay 200%+ above manufacturer's pricing. Many authorized resellers don't allow spyders to crawl into their websites. Good ol' Hans' algorithm will save your hard earned $$. Thank you, Hans!!
